Privacy
Plain-English notice about the personal information RNBEATS0 handles when you read this site or get in touch, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
This website, rnbeats0.com, is run by RNBEATS0, the R&B magazine and Instagram community (@rnbeats0). We decide how the personal information described here is used. You can reach us about anything on this page at info@rnbeats0.com.
The short version
- You don’t need an account to read RNBEATS0, and there are no sign-up forms on this site.
- We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your information.
- YouTube and Spotify players only load if you tap to play them. Until then, nothing is sent to them.
- If you email us, we use your email to reply and to consider what you sent.
What we collect and why
When you visit the site. Like almost every website, the servers that host rnbeats0.com receive basic technical information when your browser asks for a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider may keep this in server logs to run the site and keep it secure. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the website working and protected.
When you email us. If you contact info@rnbeats0.com (including to premiere your music or to be considered for The Come Up), we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to send, such as links to music. We use it to reply and to consider your submission for coverage. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to people who contact us and running the magazine. We keep emails only for as long as we need them for that, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
When you tap a YouTube or Spotify player. Music videos and tracks appear as RNBEATS0 cards first. Only when you tap one does your browser load the player from YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode, youtube-nocookie.com) or Spotify. From that point, that company receives your IP address and device information, may set cookies, and handles that data under its own privacy policy: Google/YouTube, Spotify. See our Cookies page.
Links to other sites. Our stories link to sources and to Instagram, YouTube and Spotify. Once you leave rnbeats0.com, the other site’s own privacy policy applies.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information with the service providers we need to run RNBEATS0, such as our website host and email provider, or where the law requires it. We don’t sell or rent personal information. Some providers, including YouTube and Spotify when you tap a player, may process data outside the UK under their own safeguards.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it;
- send it to you or another organisation in a reusable format, where that applies.
Email info@rnbeats0.com to make a request. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first at info@rnbeats0.com so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
If we add anything new, such as a newsletter or analytics, we’ll update this page first and change the date at the top.
